Devonshire Cream Teas
Devon is known for its Cream Teas and you will always find somewhere in the village offering a very enticing cream tea. Eat it the Devon way by splitting the warm, freshly baked scone in two, cover each half with clotted cream, and then add strawberry jam on top.
For a cream tea with a difference, try the Picnic boat in Dartmouth. This one hours cruise takes in castles and sails past the home of the late Agatha Christie. The Devon cream teas are all served on pretty china plates with proper napkins. Highly recommended!
A warm welcomes you at the Castle Tea rooms at Dartmouth Castle, With stunning views in this historic setting, the castle was built in 1856 to guide shipping into Dartmouth Harbour.
There is a large outdoor seating area which has panoramic views of the Dart Estuary.
The award winning Cream Tea at the nearby Avon Mill Garden centre at Lodiswell near Kingsbrige, offers a very cosy atmosphere where you can treat yourself. All the food is carefully prepared to a high standard and there is a delicious range of homemade cakes and scones. There are tables and chairs outside where you can relax on sunnier days.
For a luxurious treat, try the Cream Tea with Champagne at nearby Soar Mill Cove Hotel. The hotels spectacular setting is a flower-filled combe with views of the sandy bay and 2000 acres of dramatic National Trust coastline. Set in one of the unspoiled corners of South Devon.
